Chronarian Games Website (Finally) Launches!!
If you're reading this, then I can only surmise that I probably know you in real life. Unless, of course, the year is 2035 and I'm astoundingly wealthy at the age of almost-47. Either way, I'm super glad that you're here.
For the uninitiated, my name is Matt Miller. I have spent a lot of my life nose-deep into the world of video games. As I grew to enjoy playing them more, I also embraced the world around them - the news, the speculation, the console-warring (GO PLAYSTATION!), and even how they're developed. This last one, in particular, is most-likely why we're having this little chat. When I decided that it was time to lay down the "I'm gonna be a rockstar" dream and had to decide what I'd like to do with my life, I landed on the idea of Game Development.
"Now Matt, that's a really dumb idea in 2025". I know, and you're absolutely right.
But for me, this dream started in a time where breaking into Game Dev seemed possible. If we look back to 2004, a little game called "Halo 2" came out. Being in High School and having a job, I was finally able to do what the cool kids called "pre-ordering a game". I can still picture it - the EB Games in the Mall of the Bluffs, and the sheer joy that we would get to Finish the Fight. What a time to be alive. I still have that original copy to this day.
| Ol' Bess has certainly seen better days. But who among us can't say the same, amirite? |
As important and seminal of an experience as this game is for me, what's more important is the thing that got lost and is no-longer inside this case: the special edition behind-the-scenes DVD. It wasn't until months later that I even remembered that it existed. And so, I plugged in that stupid required remote thing you needed for the OG Xbox to play DVDs, and my life was changed.
"People get to work at places like that for a living?"
I was blown away.
Eventually, I ended up attending college and getting my Bachelor's in Digital Entertainment and Game Design. As is usually the case for most folks, life took a lot of different turns for me in the years following. But the dream of getting to make video games for others (and myself) to enjoy never truly faded. Many false-starts occurred over time, but we're finally getting to the good part.
Fast forward to summer of 2023, when we were expecting our first child. I realized one day - I can't expect to teach my children to never give up on following their dreams if I haven't lived by this principle myself. I started yet another project with the determination that I would finally finish something, and this time IT STUCK.

I have now spent hundreds of hours devoted to the creation of my game - MAKRANA - and all of the things that go with it. As I'm typing this, it's been a year and a half, and the game is still under construction. I'm planning for it to be released this year, and am pushing hard to cross the finish line on this one. But it's just the beginning. I have more stories to tell in the Azure's Favor Universe - someday we'll talk about why it's called that.
This blog has been very delayed in coming out, simply because I wanted to make sure I was in a good place where I can achieve my goal of completing a video game. Now that we near this moment, I am ready to document things more often here. Your guess is as good as mine with the shape that this news feed will take, but I'm expecting it to be a mix of news about my games (and books!), insight into Game Development, and probably even some silly lore for the universe that I've been building for this.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to me ramble, and I continue to look forward to an official release announcement soon!
- Matt
